Back in Time From Eternity

Back in Time From Eternity

Back in time, I walk the line
To the end that has been
Recorded in the annals of eternity.

The story of the ages,
It’s eras and stages,
In one broad expansive frame can be seen.

The mists of Creation,
On through Revelation,
Occur in the same moment out of time.

The here and now is present.
What shall be yet isn’t,
and yet it is, outside my finite mind.

I walk forward on this line-
This line that we call time,
Unable to scrub backwards or ahead.

Step by step, I progress
Through a sequence of events;
Foot in front, then again to the end.

As the history unfolds,
My character beholds
The part that I may play in the plot.

Yet for all the twists and turns,
And lessons I have learned,
Fast and furious my progress is not.

But like a book that's been read,
I know my journey’s end:
That Jesus wins and all will be set right.

So foot in front on the line,
Somewhere back in time,
Step by step, onward I press into the light.

Back in time, I walk the line
To the end that has been
Recorded in the annals of eternity.
